S.Naveen and Rakshit N.Murthy of ONGC Public School, Neravy , Karaikal brought laurels to their school by bagging the top two places in the State of Puducherry in the AISSCE -2013 conducted by the CBSE. S.Naveen stood State first by scoring 474/500(94.8%) and Rakshith N.Murthy stood State second by obtaining 473/500(94.6%). The school also gets the credit of winning the fourth position in the state. This honour goes to Imanuel.S.Joshuva of the  school reports Shri.A.Benjamin  the School Principal. He scored 468/500(93.6%).The maximum marks scored in English , Maths and physics is 95, in Chemistry it is 96, in computer it is 91 and in Biology it is 99 respectively. There are 19 students out of 50 who have obtained marks above 400.


In the AISSE results-2013 under CCE, 30 students out of 120 have obtained CGPA of 10/10. 68 students have scored CGPA of 9 and above. The overall performance of the students is commendable stated the school Principal.





The Inaugural function of The ONGC Public School Website was held at   Thanthai Periyar Auditorium at ONGC Complex, Neravy, Karaikal on 26th April 2013. The function started with the Invocation Song with the blessings of Almighty. Under the Stewardship of the newly joined Principal,  Shri. A. Benjamin  the 14 years of unreached zenith of website creation took place for the growth and  betterment of all the stakeholders of the school. Shri Har Govind , ED & Asset Manager ONGC, Cauvery Asset, Karaikal graced the function as the Chief Guest . Smt.Anitha Har Govind, the First Lady of ONGC and ONGC Women’s Club President was also present on the occasion. The website was launched by  the Chief Guest with all vibrancy, zeal and enthusiasm. He spoke on how a website for any Institution is a dire need today and how it could bring transparency in the working of the school which ultimately would pave way to take the school to greater heights. He further stated that the features in the website would serve as a bridge among all the stake holders of the school the students, parents and teachers. The Asset Manager applauded the Principal for his vision and initiative for the growth of the school.   During the function charming damsels from the student fraternity enthralled the audience with their graceful movements and expressions through the mode of Bharatnatiyam. The entire event was anchored by  the students of XII, Shri. A. Benjamin the school Principal proposed the vote of thanks. The curtain fell down after the National Anthem.

Workshop on Innovative Methods of Teaching

ONGC Public School, Neravy, Karaikal, organized a workshop for the teachers titled ‘Innovative Methods of Teaching’ with a view to enhancing teachers’ teaching skills on April 20 2013 on its premises.

The session started off with a Welcome note by Mr. A. Benjamin, Principal, ONGC Public School.  Embarking on the session, the Principal emphasized imparting education to children employing innovative methods and using educational technologies will be crucial to teaching in the modern era.

No teacher shall be ignorant as to employing technologies for imparting education. We must keep on updating our knowledge with the latest developments in our subjects. The inputs we give to the children must the best in the educational industry. Our approach to the children should be always soft, and prime aim should be oriented at identifying the talents of the children and honing them to the fullest thereby shaping good personality for the society, opined Mr MV Cherian, Head of Corporate Schools, ONGC.

Correspondent C. Gnanadas highlighted the importance of teachers being a role model to the pupils in every area of interest. We must realize the onus responsibility thrust upon us in the right spirit, and mould the students into good citizens, imbibing in them ethics and healthy competitive spirit.

All the teachers, beginning with HOD, presented innovative methods of teaching their respective subjects using innovative teaching aids and ppt.

As many as 70 teachers took part in the session. All the teachers felt it was useful to them. And the session came to end with vote of thanks by Mr. Edwin Samuel.

ONGC Public School, Neravy, Karaikal celebrated its 14th School Day with pomp and circumstance on its premises. Shri Har Govind, ED & Asset Manager, ONGC Cauvery Asset, Neravy, Karaikal, was the chief guest for the occasion, who congratulated the Pondicherry state toppers in classes X and XII and gave away cash awards and certificates to the academic toppers in classes X & XII.  Later in his address he stated  “When opportunities are given to all the students such as this, they will develop their innate talents, and one day the school will see its name on the Indian map.”

As many as 3000 parents and well-wishers took part in the celebration. Shri Sanjay Agarwal, GM (HR/ER), ONGC, Karaikal was the guest of honour, who appreciated Principal, Shri. A. Benjamin for making hundred per cent participation of the students, thereby bringing out their talents.

Shri A. Benjamin, Principal, read out the annual report, emphasizing the laurels and fame in academics and co-curricular activities. Shri A. Benjamin, in his address, highlighted the importance of educating the young minds. When children are moulded both at home and school, he further stated, they emerge good citizens for the nation.

Children enacted dramas in English, Tamil and Hindi. There were a lot of dances in various genres like Oddisi, folk, western, Bharathanattyam, etc. Moreover, various states’ cultures like Rajasthani, Punjabis, etc., were portrayed, which greatly entertained the audiences.

Unlike last, this year the hallmark of the show was that the all the students were given opportunities to participate in one programme or the other to make them get rid of the stage fright, thereby building their confidence to face a crowd.


Teacher’s Day Celebration at ONGC Public School

Teacher’s Day was celebrated flamboyantly at ONGC Public School with students impersonating Dr SarvepillaiRadhakrishnan with lot of cultural programmes, and festooning their classrooms with colourful pictures, quotes, and greeting cards about teachers.

The celebration began with a prayer song, followed by an inspirational speech on ‘Teacher’s Day’. Then, the students enacted a multi-lingual drama imitating each teacher. ‘English Rap and Rock’-an English number was performed brilliantly by class XII students. In addition, there was a luck-draw for the teachers to celebrate the luckiest teacher of the year, followed by some interesting games for the teachers, such as pyramid-making and imitating Vijay TV show AruvaduNodi, Are You Ready. Besides greeting the teachers with greeting cards and gifts,the students remarkably encouraged the teachers gave away prizes to the winners.

The Principal, delivering his special address, first wished all the teachers happy teacher’s day, and insisted all the teachers to imbibe the qualities of Dr Radhakrishnan, and shaping the students as per his dreams to make the best citizens of the country. As all the children, he further stated, are entrusted to all of us. Hence, the onus responsibility of shaping the children into good citizens lies in our hands. 

He later read out the message of Mr HarGovind, ED & Asset Manager, ONGC Cauvery Asset Karakal, who wished all the teachers, and emphasized teachers emulating Dr Radhakrishnan in order to impart quality education. Each programme was interrupted by advertisements by class XII students.

Games and sports were organized separately for the male and female teachers. And refreshments were also given to the staff.

Later in the day a get-together was arranged at the library for both teaching and non-teaching staff. Chief guest Mr. Ajit Kumar Pillai, DGM- HR, ONGC Cauvery Asset, Neravy, Karaikal was the guest of honour, who gave away the presentations to the teaching and support staff. He, in his address, congratulated the Principal, Mr. A. Benjamin, for his stupendous efforts to honour the staff with those presentations. Also, he expressed his gratitude to the Principal for inviting him to the function.

Mrs Jeevamani anchored the programme. And Mrs Lalitha proposed vote of thanks, wherein she profusely thanked the Principal for the unprecedented initiative taken to acknowledge the teachers’ commitment and honour them duly. She also said those presentations would charge them for the days ahead and make them perform better.
